STUDENT GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL COMMITTEE
In line with the UGC Guidelines (Gazette Notification: CG-DL-E-11042023-245095 dated 11 April 2023), the Gnanam School of Business, Thanjavur, has constituted a Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC) to address and resolve student concerns promptly and fairly.
The SGRC also serves as the Anti-Ragging Committee of the institution, reinforcing our commitment to a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.
Objectives
- Provide a safe and supportive platform for students to express grievances freely, with the assurance of confidentiality.
- Ensure prompt and effective resolution of student grievances within stipulated timelines.
- Offer counselling and guidance to students during the grievance process.
- Promote mutual respect, harmony, and positive relationships within the student community.
Functions
- Review and address grievances with fairness, transparency, and impartiality.
- Follow principles of natural justice in all proceedings.
- Submit reports and recommendations to the affiliating university when required.
- Conduct regular feedback surveys to identify and address recurring student issues.
Grievance Redressal Process
(As per the UGC Redressal of Grievances of Students, 2023)
Step 1 – Submit Grievance:
Students can file grievances:
- Through the online complaint form on the college website
- By email
- By dropping a written complaint in the designated grievance box
Step 2 – Referral to SGRC:
Complaints are forwarded to the SGRC within 15 days of receipt, along with institutional comments.
Step 3 – Hearing:
The SGRC will fix a date to hear the complaint and notify both the student and the institution.
The aggrieved student may present their case personally or through an authorized representative.
Step 4 – Escalation (if unresolved):
If not resolved by the SGRC within the prescribed time, the grievance will be referred to the Ombudsperson for further action. The Ombudsperson will hear all parties, issue a reasoned order, and provide copies to both the student and the institution.
Step 5 – Implementation:
The institution will comply with the Ombudsperson’s recommendations.
Step 6 – False Complaints:
If a complaint is found to be false or malicious, action may be recommended against the complainant.
